Dorian Smellie, Co-CEO of TotalControlPro, joins a cohort of ambitious UK innovators on a government-backed trade and innovation mission to Boston and Pittsburgh in March 2026.

TotalControlPro, the Northampton-based manufacturing execution system provider behind DynamxMFG, is proud to announce that its Chief Executive Officer, Dorian Smellie, has been selected to participate in Innovate UK’s highly competitive Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP): AI Enhanced Manufacturing in the USA. The programme forms part of the Made Smarter Innovation Challenge and is funded and organised by Innovate UK, the UK’s national innovation agency.

DynamxMFG by TotalControlPro delivers manufacturing operations management from shop floor to top floor, giving manufacturers complete visibility and control across every level of their business. The company is an active participant in the regional innovation ecosystem, working alongside the University of Northampton and West Northampton Council through the Fuelling Innovations programme, and collaborating with the Silverstone Technology Cluster to advance the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies across the Midlands and beyond.

The GBIP is a rigorous, 9-12 month programme that brings together up to 15 innovative UK businesses and provides them with the market knowledge, connections, and support they need to grow and scale internationally. As one of fewer than 15 companies selected nationally, TotalControlPro’s inclusion reflects the strength of its technology and its potential to compete on the world stage.

The Global Business Innovation Programme is delivered by Innovate UK Business Connect and is structured around three phases: a two-day preparation workshop covering market knowledge, intellectual property, and value proposition development; a five-day tailored in-market visit to Boston and Pittsburgh; and a final exploitation phase with dedicated one-to-one support from an Innovate UK innovation and growth specialist. Innovate UK funds and organises flights, accommodation, and in-market travel for all successful participants.

The USA programme focuses specifically on AI Enhanced Manufacturing, an area where TotalControlPro’s DynamxMFG platform is well-placed to compete. The US market represents approximately 31% of the global technology market, and US manufacturers are rapidly increasing AI adoption, with 80% expecting to expand their use of AI within the next two years.

As part of the US visit, Dorian will attend the Manufacturing IT/OT Summit USA, hosted by Valantic and OutSystems. The summit brings together manufacturing technology leaders to address the convergence of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) on the shop floor, a challenge at the heart of what TotalControlPro’s DynamxMFG platform is designed to solve. Dorian will be connecting with senior decision-makers, potential partners, and innovators shaping the future of digital manufacturing in North America.
