OEE calculator
Work out Availability, Performance and Quality from a single shift, and see how many units the gap is costing you. No sign-up, and nothing leaves your browser.
Nothing you type is sent anywhere — every figure is worked out in your browser.
How OEE is worked out
OEE is the standard measure, and it is the product of three factors rather than an average of them. That is why a shift can look busy and still score badly — 90% on each factor is 73% overall, not 90%.
OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality
Availability is run time divided by planned production time, where planned production time is the shift minus planned stops, and run time is that minus unplanned downtime. Planned stops are excluded on purpose: a scheduled break is not a fault.
Performance is the ideal cycle time multiplied by the total count, divided by run time. It is capped at 100% here, because a figure above 100% means the ideal cycle time is wrong rather than that the machine beat physics.
Quality is good count divided by total count. Reworked parts count as bad — they consumed capacity twice.
For context, 100% is perfect production, 85% is widely quoted as world class for discrete manufacturing, and 60% is common for a factory that has never measured it. The number matters far less than the trend and the reason behind each lost minute.
Where to go next
OEE tells you there is a gap. These explain where it usually hides, and what closing it looked like for someone else.
Capability
OEE software
Availability, performance and quality measured from real production bookings rather than a monthly spreadsheet.
Case study
Safran cut downtime and lifted efficiency 10%
An adaptive planning engine built with Safran Landing Systems, with a 10% improvement in OLE and OEE.
